Reddy will face CP Radhakrishnan who is National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) VP candidate.The vice-presidential election has been scheduled for September 9, following the sudden resignation of incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar last month. The deadline for filing nominations is August 21.As per Article 66(1) of the Constitution, the vice president is chosen by members of both Houses of Parliament through proportional representation and a secret ballot.
