Uttar Pradesh: Dense fog triggers fatal crashes, 9 dead

LUCKNOW: Visibility loss caused by dense fog triggered three fatal accidents in UP, killing three people in Sultanpur district, two in Kanpur district and four in Bijnor.In Sultanpur, a speeding MUV ferrying 11 people from Lucknow to Azamgarh rammed into a cattle-loaded truck broke down on Purvanchal Expressway Monday. While Sikander Khan (27) and Shambhu Lal (55), died on the spot, Shambhu’s son, Surendra Lal (28), succumbed to his injuries at Dostpur community health centre.In Kanpur, two motorcycles collided head-on late on Sunday, killing Ritik Chaturvedi (17) and Raunak alias Bobby (16), who were returning to their respective homes on a bike. Meanwhile, four men returning home died when a high-speed SUV rammed into a stationary dumper truck under near-zero visibility conditions in dense fog in Bijnor’s Nangalsoti area on Sunday, police said on Monday.
