NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Sunday posted a video highlighting key moments from Saturday’s protest at Jantar Mantar, where hundreds of students, young professionals and supporters gathered to demand the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment processes. The party, describing the demonstration as ‘Gen Z’s first protest’, claimed that the event was only a ‘trailer’ of a larger movement to come if those responsible for what it called the deterioration of the education system are not held accountable. In a post on X, the party wrote, “Cockroaches showed their strength through peace demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, for destroying our education system. It was a trailer of what is coming next if those responsible for jeopardizing our futures don’t face any accountability.” CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke also suggested that the campaign was far from over, thanking supporters for turning out in large numbers and reiterating that Saturday’s gathering was only the beginning. In a post on X, he wrote: “Going home to see my parents, it’s been more than a year since I last met them. They’ve suffered a lot over the last 15 days and had to leave home because of threats. Will be taking them back to home. FYI, today’s protest was just a trailer. Thank you for showing up in such huge numbers!” In the protest, participants were seen wearing cockroach masks and carrying flowers, called for Pradhan’s resignation over alleged issues linked to examinations and recruitment processes, including NEET, CBSE, CUET and SSC. The demonstration was held under heavy security, with Delhi Police deploying additional personnel across key locations in the capital.Dipke, who arrived in Delhi on Saturday morning, urged supporters to maintain peace and discipline throughout the event. Addressing the gathering, he accused the government of focusing on the movement’s social media activity rather than responding to its demands. The protest also received support from activist Sonam Wangchuk, who attended the demonstration and had earlier said he would undertake a six-week hunger strike if Dipke was arrested.
