Toi Imapact: NHAI simplifies process to complete KYV for FASTags

NEW DELHI: A day after the TOI report on the problems faced by vehicle owners to complete the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTags, National Highways Authority of India on Thursday simplified the process. As per the revised guidelines, FASTag services won’t be discontinued for non-compliant vehicles and users will get sufficient opportunities to complete the KYV process.”Under the simplified KYV guidelines, side photographs of car, jeep or van will no longer be required. Only the front picture showing the number plate and FASTag will be required to be uploaded. Also, provisions will be made to automatically fetch RC details from Vahan database when the user enters the vehicle, chassis or mobile number. If multiple vehicles are registered against a single mobile number, the user will be able to select the vehicle for which he/she wishes to complete KYV,” said the road transport ministry.

TOI Impact

IHMCL, the wing of NHAI dealing with tolling and the FASTag system, has revised the guidelines to make the process simple.Govt said that to maintain continuation of services, FASTags issued before the KYV policy (issued on June 20, 2024) will remain active unless complaints are received for loose tags or misuse. In addition, issuer banks will send SMS reminders to users to complete KYV. It added that in case a user faces difficulties in uploading documents, the issuing bank will proactively contact customers and assist the users, before disconnection.Officials said customers can also lodge complaints or raise queries on the NH helpline number 1033. TOI in its report published on Wednesday highlighted how vehicle owners were facing difficulty in uploading multiple documents online for verification of the FASTag linked to the vehicle. There have been instances when they were informed about blocked FASTag because of incomplete KYV when their vehicles were at the toll gates.
