‘Thank you Maharashtra!’ PM Modi hails civic poll verdict; congratulates NDA workers

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated BJP workers and thanked the people of Maharashtra after the BJP-led NDA and Mahayuti registered a sweeping victory in the state’s municipal corporation elections.In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Thank you Maharashtra! The dynamic people of the state bless the NDA’s agenda of pro-people good governance! The results of various municipal corporation elections indicate that NDA’s bond with the people of Maharashtra has further deepened. Our track record and vision for development have struck a chord. My gratitude to the people across Maharashtra.”This is a vote to add momentum to progress and celebrate the glorious culture the state is associated with.

They talked about our alliance’s track record, highlighted our vision for the coming times and also effectively countered the lies of the Opposition. My best wishes to them,” he added. Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis credited the BJP-led Mahayuti’s strong performance to its development-focused agenda, asserting that ideology and governance went hand in hand. “Hindutva has always been our soul; one cannot differentiate our Hindutva from development,” Fadnavis said.Thanking voters, he added, “First of all, I want to thank the citizens of Maharashtra for giving a grand victory to the BJP in the municipal elections. BJP and Mahayuti are going to form their 25 mayors after these elections.”Fadnavis said the alliance fought the civic polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi with a clear emphasis on infrastructure and governance. “We faced these elections with a vision of development under the leadership of PM Modi… That is why we got a record-breaking mandate in these elections… These results have clarified that Maharashtra relies a lot on PM Modi,” he said.As per trends till Friday evening, the BJP Shiv Sena Mahayuti was leading in a majority of municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The alliance was ahead on 130 of the 227 BMC seats, crossing the majority mark of 114. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 93 seats, while its ally Shiv Sena was leading on 27 seats.
