‘Stable, lasting peace’: PM Modi calls for peaceful resolution of Middle East, Ukraine conflicts after talks with Austrian leader

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, saying India and Austria share the view that military conflict cannot resolve problems. His remarks came after talks with Austria’s Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker in the capital.“Today, the entire world is passing through a very serious and tense situation,” PM Modi said, adding, “the impact of the tense situation in the world is being felt by all of us”, he added, news agency PTI reported.Highlighting a shared stance, he said India and Austria agree that conflicts cannot be settled through war. “We support stable, sustainable, and lasting peace in Ukraine and West Asia,” the Prime Minister said.PM Modi said the Austrian leader’s visit is expected to give a push to trade and investment ties. He also noted that the India-EU FTA marks the beginning of a new phase in relations between India and the European Union.The Austrian Chancellor arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday on a four-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors. This is his first official visit to India
