NEW DELHI: The first citizen of India, President Droupadi Murmu, on Wednesday participated in Census 2027, which kicked off with the initial houselisting phase.Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a post on X, “The President self-enumerated her household details in the portal (se.census.gov.in) in the presence of home secretary Govind Mohan, Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner of India Mritynjay Kumar Narayan and other senior officials.” By convention, the President of India is the first citizen to be counted in the countrywide census.Delhi, where self-enumeration has started in the NDMC and Delhi Cantonment areas, is among the 11 states and Union Territories where the 45-day window for houselisting operations began on Wednesday.Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan and PM Narendra Modi also filled out self-enumeration forms online.”Completed my self-enumeration. Today marks the beginning of the first phase of Census 2027, relating to house listing and housing operations. This census is the first time data collection is being done through digital means,” Modi said on X.Union home minister Amit Shah also completed his self-enumeration thr-ough the portal.
