A court in Chandausi has ordered the registration of an FIR against former Sambhal Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary, former Sambhal Kotwali in-charge Anuj Tomar and unidentified police personnel in connection with the Sambhal violence of 2024, as reported by PTI.The order was passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Vibhanshu Sudhir on January 9 on a plea filed by Yameen, whose son was injured during the unrest. Yameen alleged that his 24-year-old son, Alam, was shot at by police on November 24, 2024, near the Shahi Jama Masjid area while he was out selling papad.The complaint names Chaudhary, Tomar and 10 to 12 unidentified policemen. Advocate Chaudhary Akhtar Hussain Sajeb told PTI that the court accepted the plea seeking an FIR.Sambhal Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said the order would be challenged, arguing that a judicial inquiry had already been conducted.The violence broke out during a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, leaving five people dead and 29 policemen injured.
