'Rojgaar Do, Samajik Nyay Do’: AAP’s foot march enters Day 2 in UP; Sanjay Singh slams govt over unemployment, caste bias

The Aam Aadmi Party’s “Rojgaar Do – Samajik Nyay Do” (Give employment, Give social justice) foot march entered its second day in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, with party leader Sanjay Singh flagging issues of unemployment and caste-based discrimination in the state.Led by AAP’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, the 13-day march began from Chandpur, Harbanshpur and Dhabasemer in Ayodhya, passed through Kalyan Bhadarsa and reached Bikapur.“Uttar Pradesh has sadly become the state with the highest unemployment in India,” Singh said while addressing the crowd. “Government vacancies remain unfilled, while farmers, weavers and small-scale workers continue to suffer economic distress and lack of opportunities”, he added. On the issue of social discrimination, Singh said, “Uttar Pradesh also leads in caste-based injustice. Even today, Dalits face discrimination in temples, weddings, and public spaces. There are manipulations in reservations, and from police stations to tehsils, the doors of justice remain closed for the marginalized.”Calling the foot march a people’s movement aimed at demanding jobs and social justice, he said “This is not a political event but a struggle for dignity and rights”, urging people to join the campaign. The march drew participation from local residents and AAP workers at several points, including Nahariya Chowki, Masoda, Bharatkund, Pipri Jalalpur and Shahganj Mod.The nearly 200-km march will journey from Ayodhya to Prayagraj, passing through Sultanpur and Amethi and will culminate in Prayagraj.
