Pushkar Singh Dhami flags off Adi Kailash Parikrama marathon, unveils logo

NEW DELHI: Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the promotional run for the Adi Kailash Parikrama Ultra Marathon, scheduled for November 2, 2025, from his residence. He also unveiled the event logo. The marathon will mark the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand’s statehood and is set to start from Gunji village, covering altitudes ranging from 10,300 to 15,000 feet.“The Adi Kailash Marathon will be organized in the Vyas Valley on 2nd November 2025 as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Uttarakhand’s foundation,” Dhami said. Dhami also noted that the marathon will support the “Vibrant Villages” initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the development of border regions.On Sunday, children, youth, and citizens from across the state participated in the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run Marathon, which concluded at the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board office. Tourism secretary Dheeraj Garbyal said the top three winners of the 10-kilometre run will be invited to participate in the main marathon in Gunji, Pithoragarh. The event will feature five categories: 60 km Ultra Run, 42 km Full Marathon, 21 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run, and 5 km Run, with athletes from across the country expected to compete. Garbyal also mentioned that following the Vyas Valley marathon, the next event is proposed in the Mana-Niti region in June 2026, with a total prize pool of Rs 50 lakh for winners across both marathons. Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, IG ITBP Sanjay Gunjyal, Additional Secretary Tourism Abhishek Ruhela, and Mrs Pooja Garbyal attended the event along with participants.
