Padma Awards 2026: Dharmendra, Shibu Soren, Rohit Sharma honoured - check full list

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Sunday announced to award veteran actor Dharmendra and former chief minister of Jharkhand Shibu Soren with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhashan posthumously.While the legendry film star Dharmendra died on November 24, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder Soren died on August 4 last year.According to the official list, the President of India has approved the conferment of 131 Padma Awards this year. The honours include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards .Of the total awardees, 19 are women. The list also includes six awardees from the category of foreigners, NRIs, PIOs and OCIs, underscoring India’s global cultural and professional footprint. Additionally, 16 Padma awards will be conferred posthumously. The Padma Vibhushan honours exceptional and distinguished service, the Padma Bhushan recognises distinguished service of a high order, and the Padma Shri is awarded for distinguished service in any field. The 2026 list includes achievers from a wide range of disciplines, such as art, social work, public affairs, medicine, science and engineering, literature and education, sports, trade and industry, and the civil services.Check full listPadma Vibhushan Awardees (5)
