Operation Kiya: Two terrorists killed by security forces in J&K's Udhampur

NEW DELHI: Two Pakistani terrorists were killed on Wednesday in a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, ANI reported quoting officials. Jammu and Kashmir Police said the terrorists were neutralised during an intense encounter in the Basantgarh area following a coordinated operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force. The encounter began around 4 pm after security forces established contact with the terrorists based on specific intelligence inputs. Officials said a cordon and search operation had been launched in the Johpar-Marta village area of Ramnagar tehsil after information was received about the movement of suspected militants. The situation escalated into a firefight when the terrorists, believed to be hiding in a forested stretch, opened fire on the troops, prompting retaliation by the security forces. Reinforcements were rushed to the area to prevent any escape, and all exit routes were sealed as the operation intensified.Confirming the operation, the White Knight Corps said in a post on X, “Operation Kiya. In an intelligence-based joint Operation, contact has been established with the terrorists by the Troops of CIF Delta, #WhiteKnightCorps, @JmuKmrPolice and #CRPF at around 4 pm today in the general area of Basantgarh. Cordon has been established. Firefight is on. Operation is in progress.”Officials said the joint operation was launched following credible intelligence and remained underway for several hours as security forces tightened the cordon and carried out thorough searches in the area.(With inputs from ANI)
