NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the review plea filed by student activist Umar Khalid, an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots case, against its earlier judgment denying him bail.“Having gone through the review petition and the documents on record, we do not find any valid ground to review the judgment dated January 1, 2026. Accordingly, the review petition is dismissed,” the court said.In its January ruling, the top court had denied Khalid bail while granting relief to five co-accused. It observed that prolonged incarceration, even before the formal commencement of trial, cannot be treated as a “trump card” or a “gateway to bail.”Umar Khalid has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots case.
