'NDA never talked of killing anyone': Kiren Rijiju slams Rahul Gandhi over anti-PM Modi slogans at Congress rally; seeks apology

NEW DELHI: Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju has demanded apology from leader of oppositions in both the houses — Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi — a day after videos of Congress workers sloganeering “eliminate” Prime Minister Narendra Modi surfaced on social media.”Both the LoPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha should apologise,” Rijiju said. He further claimed that the BJP or NDA had “never disrespected anyone’s parents or threatened anyone’s life.” “BJP-NDA has never disrespected anyone’s parents or threatened anyone’s life. We oppose people in different ways and criticise them, as politics allows in a democracy, but to kill someone, there has never been such a thought. What kind of mentality is this, that Congress leaders openly declared to kill someone?” he questioned.”The world and the country acknowledge PM Modi, and if some opposition leaders speak of killing him, it’s deeply saddening. Merely condemning it will not help. The Congress chief and the LoP must apologise to the country from the floor of the House,” he added. Several BJP leaders had shared a video on Sunday alleging the “real agenda” behind its SIR, ‘vote chori’ rally in Delhi was to “eliminate” Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “So the agenda is clear. It’s not about SIR. It is about Sanvidhan pe vaar. Congress leaders chanting ‘Kabr khudegi Modi ki, aaj nahi to kal khudegi‘,” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said.”Recently Ragini Nayak had also tweeted an AI Video showing him as a chaiwala. In name of SIR – they want to eliminate PM Modi? Recently Rahul Gandhi threatened ECI too. So far Cong has abused PM Modi 150 + times,” he added. The Congress organised a massive rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, stepping up its agitation over alleged “vote theft” and the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. The demonstration, branded “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod”, was held amid heightened political tensions, coming just days after heated confrontations between the government and the Opposition in Parliament over the credibility of the electoral process.
