NEW DELHI: The defence acquisition council on Monday cleared an “acceptance of necessity” worth around Rs 79,000 crore to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces. The approvals, granted during a meeting held on December 29 relate to a range of equipment for the Army, Navy and Air Force.”During the meeting held on December 29 AoN was approved for the procurement of Loiter Munition System for Artillery Regiments, Low Level Light Weight Radars, Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MRLS), and Integrated Drone Detection & Interdiction System Mk-H for the Indian Army,” a press release said.

For the Indian Navy, approvals were granted for the procurement of Bollard Pull tugs, High Frequency Software Defined Radio manpacks, and the leasing of High Altitude Long Range remotely piloted aircraft systems.The Indian Air Force received approval for systems including an Automatic Take-off and Landing Recording System, Astra Mk-II air-to-air missiles, a full mission simulator for the light combat aircraft Tejas, and SPICE-1000 long-range guidance kits.
