As India prepares to celebrate the auspicious festival of Chhath starting Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to share songs and melodies dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, describing them as rich expressions of devotion and culture. Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi remarked that the festival—deeply rooted in reverence for nature and tradition—is being celebrated with great enthusiasm, particularly in Bihar and eastern regions of India. “The songs of Chhathi Maiya enhance the grandeur and divinity of this sacred occasion,” he said, inviting people to send in their favourite devotional tracks. The prime minister added that he intends to share some of the submitted songs with fellow citizens over the coming days, encouraging collective celebration and preservation of India’s cultural heritage. Chhath Puja, observed mainly in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and parts of Nepal, honors the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for sustaining life on Earth and granting prosperity to devotees.

The heartfelt gesture reflects the deep cultural devotion and personal connection central to this ancient festival.
