NEW DELHI: India has expressed deep concern over the renewed escalation of violence in the Middle East, calling for immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomatic negotiations. In a statement on developments in the region, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) on Monday said the ongoing conflict has caused “immense human suffering” and is now a matter of “utmost concern to the international community.”“India deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia. These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community,” the statement said. The MEA noted that the conflict, which has continued for over 100 days, is also having a negative impact on the global economy.“This conflict has now lasted over 100 days and has already caused immense human suffering. It has also had a debilitating impact on the global economy and energy supplies,” it added. It further urged all parties to avoid escalation, ensure civilian protection, and continue efforts towards a diplomatic resolution.“We call on all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions, ensure that civilians are not harmed and conclude ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region,” the statement said.

Indian missions issue travel and safety advisories

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with Indian diplomatic missions issuing fresh advisories for nationals in the Middle East. The Indian Embassy in Israel urged citizens to exercise “utmost caution” and remain vigilant, asking them to strictly follow safety instructions issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. The embassy advised Indian nationals to stay close to designated shelters, identify protected spaces near their homes and workplaces, and avoid all non-essential movement within the country until further notice. It also urged them to stay updated through official channels and local alerts. In case of emergencies, the mission shared 24×7 helpline numbers and said it remains in constant touch with local authorities.Separately, the Indian Embassy in Tehran issued a high-priority advisory asking Indian citizens to avoid travelling to Iran and advising those already present to leave immediately. The advisories follow sharp escalations in the region, including reported airstrikes, missile exchanges and rising maritime tensions.Israel and Iran exchanged attacks amid fears that fragile ceasefire arrangements could collapse, further deepening instability across the Middle East.
