Massive fire at Arpora nightclub claims lives of twenty three people and inquiry is ordered

23 killed in Goa’s Arpora nightclub fire

PANAJI: In a tragic incident, 23 people, including tourists, died after a massive fire broke out at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora on Saturday at midnight. The state govt has ordered an inquiry into the incident.The incident took place at around 11:45 pm on Saturday.Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that it is a very painful day for all of us in Goa. “A major fire incident at Arpora has taken the lives of 23 people,” he said. “I am deeply grieved and offer my heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families in this hour of unimaginable loss.”Sawant visited the incident site and ordered an inquiry into this incident. “The inquiry will examine the exact cause of the fire and whether fire safety norms and building rules were followed,” Sawant said. “Those found responsible will face the most stringent action under the law—any negligence will be dealt with firmly.”
