Mantris reveal assets, from scooters to crypto

NEW DELHI: From Ambassador cars, old scooters to sports cars, caravans, pistols and rifles, ministers have uploaded their assets on PMO website.As per the disclosures available on the portal for 2024-25, defence minister Rajnath Singh, agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, social justice minister Virendra Kumar and women and child welfare minister Annapurna Devi and her her deputy Savitri Thakur own firearms. Kumar has declared that he has a 37-year-old scooter valued at only Rs 2,000; finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also declared owning a Bajaj Chetak scooter and textile minister Giriraj Singh owns a 2012 make Tata Nano.Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari has declared owning three cars, including a 1994 model Ambassador. Tribal affairs minister Jual Oram has five vehicles, including a jeep (1991) and an LML scooter (1986). Chouhan has declared one Ambassador car registered in his wife’s name.Water resources minister C R Patil has submitted that he owns a Range Rover (Rs 2.95 cr) and another high-end car. He also declared owing 1,287 gram of gold. Actor-turned neta, Suresh has eight vehicles, including two caravans. There are also several ministers who have not declared any of their moveable assets.Telecom mantri Jyotiraditya Scindia has declared both movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 329 crore while railway and I&B mantri Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed assets valued at Rs 125 crore. The details shared by the ministers mention that home minister Amit Shah has immovable property worth over Rs 20 crore, including jewellery of Rs 1 crore. Sitharaman has jewellery worth more than Rs 27 lakh and mutual fund investments of over Rs 19 lakh. Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has declared 1,679gram gold jewellery worth more than Rs 1.2 crore, 10-kg silver jewellery and diamond jewellery, among other assets. Gadkari has also declared gold jewellery worth more than Rs 37 lakh, while his wife, Kanchan Nitin Adhikari, has declared gold jewellery valued at above Rs 28 lakh.According to the disclosures, Union skill development minister Jayant Chaudhary has declared crypto investments worth Rs 21.3 lakh.
