Land use changed for nearly 101 acres in Central Vista area

NEW DELHI: Govt has changed the land use for approximately 101 acres in Central Vista area for construction of govt offices and official residences, housing and urban affairs ministry informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday. It also said that 2,994 trees have been either cut or transplanted for the redevelopment of the Central Vista project.In a written reply, the ministry said land use for plot no-1 located on Church Road near DTC Central Secretariat Bus terminal measuring 15 acres has been changed from “Transportation (bus terminal/ parking) and govt (President Estate and Parliament house) and recreational (neighbourhood play area)” to “residential”. The Vice President’s Enclave has come up on this plot.Similarly, land use for plot no-2 located opposite Parliament House measuring 9.5 acres has been changed from “Recreational (district park)” to “Government (Parliament House)” and for plot no-3 located south of Dr Rajendra Prasad Road and National Archives measuring 7.7 acres has been changed from “public and semi-public facilities” to “govt office and recreational (district park)”. In the case of plot no-4 located south of Dr Rajendra Prasad Road and east of Janpath measuring 24.7 acres, land use has been changed from “Public and semi-public facilities” to “govt office”. The land use for plot no-5 located east of Maan Singh Road and south of Ashoka Road measuring 4.5 acres has been changed from “public and semi-public facilities” to “govt office”.Land use for plot no-6 located north of Maulana Azad Road and east of Janpath measuring 24.7 acres has been changed from “public and semi public facilities” to “govt office and recreational (district park)”. The ministry said land use for plot no-7 located north of Dalhousie Road near South Block measuring 15 acres has been changed from “govt office and recreational (neighbourhood play area) to “residential”. The new PM residence is coming up on this plot.
