NEW DELHI: Security forces on Friday recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from a hideout near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, foiling what police described as a potential terror plot, according to officials cited by PTI.Acting on specific intelligence, troops launched a search operation in the Neeriyan Forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir. A police official said the operation led to the discovery of a concealed hideout stocked with weapons.The recovered items include two M-series (M4) assault rifles with four magazines, two Chinese pistols with three magazines, two hand grenades and multiple live rounds, the official added.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, he added.Police said the recovery of the weapons haul has “foiled a potential terror plot,” underscoring continued efforts to prevent infiltration and movement of arms along the LoC.
