NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after it filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for his “dance” remark aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with party leader Pawan Khera accusing the BJP of being “issueless” and lacking any vision for the Bihar elections.”Just imagine how issueless a party can be. They have no agenda, no report card, no vision for the Bihar elections, and yet they’re making this an issue,” said Khera.“A party whose Prime Minister uses words like ‘mujhra’ has the guts to object to words like ‘dance’. What bigger joke could there be? Let them complain…” he added, , as quoted by ANI.While addressing an an election rally in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on PM Modi, alleging that he would “do anything for votes.” The Congress leader said, “He (PM Modi) just wants your vote. If you ask him to do a drama for votes, he will. You can make him do anything. If you tell Narendra Modi to dance, he will dance.” Following the remarks, the BJP lodged a complaint with the Bihar Chief Election Officer (CEO), calling Gandhi’s comments “highly derogatory, indecent, and personal.” The party said the statement was “deeply disrespectful to the office of the Prime Minister” and “crosses all boundaries of decency and democratic discourse.” “Such comments are personal, mocking, and intended to insult the dignity of the highest constitutional office of the Republic of India,” the BJP stated in its complaint. The BJP urged the Election Commission to take “immediate and exemplary action” against Rahul Gandhi for “violating the Model Code of Conduct, committing corrupt practices under Section 123(4) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and lowering the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office through indecent and unbecoming remarks.” It also sought a show-cause notice to the Congress MP and asked that he be directed to issue an unconditional public apology. As Bihar heads into a high-stakes election, the NDA — which includes the BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha — will face the Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD and comprising Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s VIP.The state will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results to be declared on November 14.
