'Isolated occurrence': HAL issues statement on Tejas crash at Dubai airshow; no impact on operations

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) issued a statement on Monday on the Tejas crash in Dubai, calling it an “isolated occurrence caused by exceptional circumstances”. The crash led to the death of Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Namansh Syal.”We would like to bring to your attention that the recent incident during the aerial display at the Dubai Air Show is an isolated occurrence arising out of exceptional circumstances,” the statement said.”We would like to assure that there is no impact on the Company’s business operations, financial performance or its future deliveries. The Company is extending its full support and cooperation to the agencies conducting the investigation. The Company will continue to keep the stakeholders informed of any material developments,” it added.Earlier, HAL had expressed its condolences on the death of the IAF pilot saying, “HAL is deeply saddened by the loss of the courageous IAF pilot during the aerial display at the Dubai Air Show. HAL expresses its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.” Shares of HAL fell sharply, dropping over 8% in early trade after a Tejas aircraft crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show. The stock later recovered part of the loss, trading around 3–4% lower on both the BSE and NSE.
