NEW DELHI: Accusing CWC of sowing “confusion and misinformation” regarding VB G RAM G law, rural development minister Shivraj Chouhan said Congress cut MGNREGA’s budget, froze wages, and is now shedding what he termed “crocodile tears” for workers.Claiming that the opposition’s outcry is purely political, Chouhan said that during Congress era, the “MGNREGA scheme was mired in corruption”, whereas the present govt has introduced the VB-G RAM G Act with “full transparency to ensure real and tangible benefits for workers across the country”.On opposition’s allegation that Mahatma Gandhi’s name and ideals are being removed, Chouhan said these claims are “baseless” and said the core spirit of the VB-G RAM G Act is deeply rooted in Gandhian principles envisioned for India’s rural future-village-centric development, Gram Swaraj, self-reliance, respect for labour, people’s participation, and social accountability.
