FIR against dad for sex abuse after Class IX girl confides in Mission Shakti team at school

FIR against dad for sex abuse after Class IX girl confides in Mission Shakti team at school

LUCKNOW: What began as an awareness interaction under Mission Shakti at a prominent school in Lucknow’s Jankipuram took a serious turn when a student broke down and narrated her alleged ordeal of sexual abuse at home, leading to the registration of an FIR against her father.A team from Mission Shakti visited the school Saturday to sensitise girl students about their rights and encourage them to treat police as allies. During the interaction, officials urged students to speak openly about any form of harassment or violence. Moved by the assurance, a Class IX student shared disturbing allegations against her father.According to the complaint, the accused runs a couple of businesses. The student alleged that her father developed an illicit relationship with another woman. When she and her mother objected, the accused allegedly assaulted her mother and forcibly took away her mobile phone. The student further alleged her father imposed severe restrictions on her movement, stopped her from stepping outside the house, and installed surveillance cameras inside the home to monitor family members. She accused him of inappropriate behaviour and assault, claiming he would place his leg over her while sleeping and pass objectionable remarks about her body. The complaint also states the accused assaulted his own mother during family disputes. Based on the student’s written complaint, cops at Jankipuram police station registered a case against her father. Jankipuram SHO VK Tiwari said an FIR was lodged under charges of outraging modesty, criminal assault, and sections 7 and 8 of the POCSO Act against the father.”The allegations are serious. Statements will be recorded and the accused will be questioned. Further legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” said assistant commissioner of police, Aliganj, Syed Areeb Ahmad. The incident has once again highlighted the crucial role of school outreach programmes under Mission Shakti in giving victims the confidence to speak up and seek legal protection.
