The Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission of India to provide details of 3.66 lakh voters excluded from Bihar’s final electoral roll following the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR), ahead of the assembly elections scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11. The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi directed the EC to submit comparative data on excluded voters by October 9.In Tamil Nadu, nearly ten days after the deadly Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives, TVK chief Vijay personally reached out to the victims’ families via video calls, assuring them of support and calling the loss “irreparable.” At least eight families have been contacted so far, with all 27 affected families expected to be reached soon.The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded on Tuesday to John Clarke of UC Berkeley, Michel H. Devoret of Yale and UC Santa Barbara, and John M. Martinis of UC Santa Barbara for their pioneering discovery of macroscopic quantum tunnelling and energy quantisation in electric circuits. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences noted that their experiments demonstrated quantum phenomena on a scale large enough to be held in the hand. The laureates will receive a gold medal, a diploma, and 11 million Swedish kronor, with the award ceremony scheduled in Stockholm on December 10.

The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke of the University of California, Berkeley, Michel H. Devoret of Yale University and the University of California, Santa Barbara, and John M. Martinis of the University of California, Santa Barbara, for their discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said their experiments, conducted using chip-based Josephson junctions in 1984–1985, “revealed quantum physics in action,” showing that quantum phenomena can manifest on a scale large enough to be held in the hand and are not limited to atomic or subatomic levels. The laureates will receive a gold medal, diploma, and 11 million Swedish kronor, presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf in Stockholm, while the Nobel selection process remains confidential, with nominations sealed for 50 years. Supreme Court asks EC to provide details of 3.66 lakh excluded voters post SIR

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Election Commission of India to provide details of 3.66 lakh voters excluded from the final electoral roll following Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR). During the hearing, the poll body stated that most additions to the final list were new voters, with only a few old voters removed, and no complaints have been filed by excluded voters so far. The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi asked the EC to submit comparative data by October 9. The final roll, published on September 30 ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, shows a net decrease of 47 lakh voters from pre-SIR figures, but a net increase of 17.87 lakh compared to the draft list of August 1, which had deleted 65 lakh names. Cabinet clears four railway projects worth Rs 24,634 crore

On Tuesday, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved four major railway projects worth Rs 24,634 crore spanning Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, adding approximately 894 km of track. The projects include Wardha-Bhusawal 3rd and 4th line, Gondia-Dongargarh 4th line, Vadodara-Ratlam 3rd and 4th line and Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina 4th line. They aim to enhance connectivity to over 3,600 villages, two Aspirational Districts and key tourist sites such as Sanchi and Satpura Tiger Reserve. Planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the multi-tracking initiatives are expected to ease congestion, improve operational efficiency and support an additional 78 million tonnes of freight annually, while reducing oil imports by 28 crore litres and cutting CO2 emissions by 139 crore kg. Bihar Politics- Congress leader says Tejashwi not INDIA Bloc’s CM Face

Congress leader Udit Raj clarified on Tuesday that Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav is not the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate, and the decision for the top post will be made collectively by the alliance, even though he remains RJD’s CM face. The statement followed Yadav’s social media post promising employment for all households in Bihar if he becomes CM. Yadav, after the Election Commission announced poll dates, said, “Every Bihari will be a CM this time, they will be CM – change maker,” and added that while he may be RJD’s CM face, the INDIA bloc’s CM choice “will be decided collectively.” He vowed to root out unemployment, calling for a change from the 20-year rule of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, criticizing his governance as marked by crime, corruption, and bureaucracy. TVK chief Vijay reaches out to the victims’ families 10 days after the Karur Stampede

TVK chief Vijay personally reached out to the victims’ families via video calls, marking the first time in ten days that a party leader engaged directly with them. This comes nearly ten days after the deadly Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives, . A Chennai-based team, led by TVK general secretary of propaganda and policy K G Arun Raj, began contacting families on Monday, with at least eight families reached so far and all 27 affected families expected to be contacted soon. During the calls, Vijay assured the families, “I will be with you,” promising to stand by them like his own family and acknowledging the loss as “irreparable.” Tamil Arasan, brother of victim Dhanushkumar, said Vijay expressed care, broke down at times, and promised to meet the families soon, with the interactions kept confidential and unrecorded except on a TVK member’s phone.
