EC hits back after Tejashwi's bias claim

.

After RJD neta Tejashwi Yadav questioned EC for having deployed over 20,000 policemen from BJP-governed states for poll duty in Bihar, EC clarified that state armed police component constitutes only 20% of total forces deployed. “Nearly 80% of police forces are deployed from the central armed police forces and only 20% of forces are deployed from the state armed police, which are drawn proportionately from different states as per their availability,” said an official from EC. SAP personnel on duty in Bihar have been taken from 24 different states, including oppn-governed Jharkhand, Kerala Telangana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. On Tejashwi’s criticism of EC for not disclosing genderwise turnout for Phase 1 polling, EC officials insisted that relevant figure was “generally given at the time of final turnout”.
