EC asks citizens to download ECINet platform; calls for suggestions to improve app

NEW DELHI: Ahead of expected launch of ECINet platform – which integrates 40 election-related applications or websites onto a single, unified application, enabling ease of use – later this month, the Election Commission has invited all citizens to download its trial version and offer their suggestions on how to improve the application. The suggestions may be given till January 10, 2026, by using the ‘submit a suggestion’ tab on the app, EC said in a release on Saturday. The trial version of the new ECINet App enables better voter services, quicker availability of polling percentage trends and also the publication of index cards – compiling information and datasets from a recently held election – within 72 hours of the close of poll, an exercise that previously took several weeks or months. The app was successfully tried out during the Bihar assembly elections and by-elections held last year. The ECINet platform is being continually improved and refined based on the feedback from state/Union territory chief electoral officers, district election officers, observers and other field officials. The user suggestions received over the next week shall be examined and the platform further updated, based on the suggestions found viable, to make it more user-friendly. The ECINet platform will officially be launched this month. ECINet is one of the major initiatives of the Commission piloted by chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Work on developing the ECINet App had started after its announcement on May 4, 2025.The single, unified ECINet app for citizens onboards 40 separate election-related applications/websites such as voter helpline app, cVIGIL, saksham, voter turnout app putting out polling trends, know your candidate (KYC) app, etc. The all-in-one app can be downloaded both via Google Play Store and Apple store.
