Dhankhar hospitalised: Ex-VP admitted to AIIMS, to undergo MRI; fainted twice last week

NEW DELHI: Former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday after he suffered two bouts of unconsciousness last week and is scheduled to undergo an MRI, officials said.According to officials, Dhankhar had experienced “two bouts of unconsciousness” on January 10 when he went to the washroom. He was taken to AIIMS on Monday for a medical checkup, following which doctors advised hospitalisation for further tests.“Today, he had gone to AIIMS for a checkup when the doctors insisted that he should get admitted for tests,” an official said.Dhankhar has a history of blacking out on multiple occasions in recent years. He had previously lost consciousness while attending public events in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala and the national capital during his tenure as vice president.Dhankhar resigned from the post of vice president on July 21, citing health reasons.(With inputs from PTI)
