'Conflict has a price': Air Force chief reveals why India paused Operation Sindoor so soon; & a 'lesson' for world

NEW DELHI: Air Force Chief Marshal AP Singh on Friday said that Operation Sindoor was halted only after 4 days because India had achieved its objectives of decimating terrorists establishments in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The Air Force Chief said that any conflict has a lot of price which has to be paid and it affects the preparedness for the next one.

Five Pak Jets, ‘Big Bird’ Fall To IAF’s S-400 In Op Sindoor: Air Force Chief AP Singh Reveals

“The main wars that are going on today, be it Russia, Ukraine or the Israel war. They are going on, years have passed, because no one is thinking about conflict termination. We heard that people said that no, we should have done a little more. We stopped the war very quickly. Yes, they were on the back foot, no doubt, but what were our objectives? Our objective was anti-terrorism. We had to strike them. We had done that,” he said.”So if our objectives have been met, then why should we not terminate a conflict? Why should we carry on? Because any conflict has a lot of price which has to be paid. It will affect our preparedness for the next one. It will affect our economy. It will affect the progress of the country. So, I think this is what the world is forgetting. They do not know what our target was when we started the war. Now their goal post is shifting. Egos are coming in between. And this is where I think the world has to learn a lesson from India how to start and terminate a conflict at the earliest possible opportunity,” he added. In response to the Pahalgam attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, Indian armed forces targeted nine major terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Bahawalpur headquarters and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Muridke headquarters. Each of these centers accused of harbouring anti-India terror was blown to bits by Indian armed forces. The strikes hit residential areas of senior leaders and offices where commanders planned operations. Videos released by the Indian Air Force showed the level of destruction in the complex. The strikes killed around a dozen top terrorists, including Yusuf Azhar, the IC-814 hijacker, Abu Jundal, the Muridke chief of LeT, and the son of the planner of the 2016 Nagrota attack. This operation, carried out in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, demonstrated India’s ability to carry out precise, high-impact missions inside enemy territory.
