NEW DELHI: Jamtara in Jharkhand and Mewat in Haryana, which have emerged as hubs of cyber fraud, are among the seven locations in the country where the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has set up joint cybercrime coordination teams (JCCTs) for inter-state synergy in tracking and investigation of cyber crimes.Sharing this information on Tuesday in reply to a written question in the Lok Sabha, junior home minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the 7 JCCTs — working in ‘cybercrime hotspots’ and areas having multi-jurisdictional issues — in Jamtara, Mewat, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati coordinate law enforcement actions across a set of states./UTs. The constituent state police share information through the JCCT mechanism on name, residence and mobile number of cyber criminals as well as case details, facilitating expeditious action.Kumar informed that the citizen financial cyber fraud reporting and management system (CFCFRMS), launched by I4C in 2021, has saved over Rs 11,158 crore so far from being siphoned by fraudsters in action taken on 32.8 lakh complaints. Also, nearly 66 lakh financial fraud complaints were received on the helpline ‘1930’ between 2021 and 2025, involving a total amount of over Rs 55,000 crore. An amount of Rs 8,189 crore was marked as lien and 1.9 lakh FIRs registered. Elaborating on I4C’s ‘Pratibimb’ module — which maps the locations of criminals and cybercrime infrastructure and facilitates techno-legal assistance to law enforcement agencies — the minister said it has led to the arrest of over 29,837 accused and facilitated over 2.3 lakh cyber investigation assistance requests.
