CBSE 2nd Board results: 3 lakh students improve scores

CBSE results for 2nd edition class 10 board exams out

NEW DELHI: CBSE Saturday declared the results of the Class X Second Board Examination 2026, taking the overall pass percentage — after combining the main and second exam results — to nearly 96.8.In the main board examination, CBSE had recorded an overall Class X pass percentage of 93.7. Nearly 3.1 lakh of the 5.1 lakh students, around 60%, who appeared for the improvement examination recorded higher scores than in the main examination.Meanwhile, of the 1.5 lakh students who appeared in the compartment category in the second exam, 78,503 passed, resulting in a compartment pass percentage of 52.4, up from around 48.7 last year.Under CBSE’s new two-board examination system for Class X, introduced this year under the National Education Policy 2020, the main board examination is compulsory, the second examination is optional. For regular candidates, the final marksheet reflects the better score obtained across the two examinations.Under the new structure, the main board examination was conducted from Feb 17 to March 11, followed by the second board examination from May 15 to May 21. “Students can retain the higher score obtained across the two attempts, ensuring that a single exam does not determine their final performance. The policy is intended to promote competency-based assessment, reduce dependence on high-stakes testing and coaching, and provide greater academic flexibility,” said a CBSE official. For the second board exam, CBSE said, students can access their results through the DigiLocker results portal. School-wise results have also been shared with schools through their registered email addresses, while digital academic documents can be accessed through the CBSE repository using credentials already provided to schools.
