B’luru firm, Embraer subsidiary tie up for MRO & manufacturing

BENGALURU: Bengaluru-based Axiscades Technologies Tuesday announced a strategic partnership with Portugal-based OGMA, a subsidiary of Embraer, to jointly pursue aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), airframe engineering and certification services for commercial and military aircraft.“The agreement is aimed at expanding high-value, long-term aerospace services in India, as Axiscades looks to move up the value chain beyond engineering design and manufacturing. Under the partnership, Axiscades and OGMA will provide maintenance and lifecycle support for Embraer aircraft operating in India, as well as platforms from other manufacturers,” the firm said in a statement. The Embraer fleet in the country includes VVIP and VIP aircraft, airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems, and commercial jets. The collaboration brings together Axiscades’ capabilities in aircraft design, avionics, radar, electronic warfare, system integration and unmanned systems with OGMA’s long-standing experience in airframe and engine MRO.“OGMA has close working relationships with major global original equipment manufacturers, including Embraer, Airbus Defence, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney, which the companies said would strengthen the scope of the alliance,” the statement read. Both firms will jointly explore opportunities in India, the UAE and the wider MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, markets that are seeing rising demand for certified MRO and engineering services.Axiscades is also developing a large integrated aerospace and defence manufacturing and MRO facility near the Kempegowda International Airport. “The upcoming hub will house dedicated aircraft hangars, engine and speed shops, welding facilities, electronics manufacturing units, system integration lines and certification testing infrastructure,” the firm said.Company executives said the partnership would help build indigenous MRO capabilities in India while meeting global standards and supporting long-term growth in defence and civil aviation services.
