NEW DELHI: The disclosures made by political parties to Election Commission, after assembly elections in Delhi earlier this year, revealed BJP at Centre, and also in the state now, has a bank balance of over Rs 6,900 crore.Its rival and the grand old party, Congress, at the same time, has merely Rs 53 crore, both at party headquarters and state and district units together. BSP, with insignificant electoral presence, continues to have deposits of over Rs 580 crore.Later, in an Oct 24 filing of contributions statement to EC, Congress declared having received Rs 517 crore in 2024-25 — the total donations it had received above Rs 20,000 each that are disclosed. Political parties don’t disclose donors below this amount while major collection comprises small donations. Different sources of fund collections for parties include individuals, corporates and trusts.AAP central party had bank balances of Rs 9.9 crore, CPM Rs 4 crore, CPI Rs 41 lakh, and BSP Rs 580 crore, among some of the parties that have declared their bank balances after the assembly elections of Delhi. No contribution reports have been received by the poll watchdog after the Bihar assembly elections.
