The Election Commission on Tuesday released the final voter list for Bihar following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which included Patna’s 14 constituencies under its jurisdiction. The revised roll showed a significant rise in the number of electors ahead of elections, due this year.According to the press release from Election Commission, around 21.53 lakh eligible electors were added, while 3.66 lakh ineligible ones were removed, since the first draft post SIR published in August. The draft electoral list on 1 August 2025 had 7.24 crore electors; after removing 3.66 lakh ineligible voters and adding 21.53 lakh eligible ones, the final list on 30 September 2025 stands at approximately 7.42 crore electors, according to the EC.Patna alone saw increase of over 1.6 lakh electors in the latest list.”In light of the directives of the Election Commission India, the final publication of the voter list for all 14 Assembly constituencies in Patna district was out today under the Intensive Revision Campaign, 2025, based on the eligibility date of 01.07.2025. According to this, the total number of electors is 48,15,294, which is 1,63,600 more than the total number of electors, 46,51,694, included in the draft list published on 01 August 2025,” said the District Administration, Patna. This is based on EC’s published final rolls ahead of the upcoming elections this year. “In light of the special intensive revision, the final electoral roll has been published on September 30-2025. Any voter can view the details of their name in the electoral roll through the provided link,” the Election Commission said.Read more: EC publishes final electoral roll; how voters can check detailsThe list comes after the Commission’s July drive to eliminate foreign illegal migrants from the rolls.Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is hearing the opposition’s plea against the SIR. It has indicated that if any illegality is found in the Election Commission of India’s methodology, the entire exercise could be struck down. The large-scale revision involved over 77,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), nearly 3,000 assistant officers, and more than 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing all major parties. However, the process has drawn criticism from opposition parties. Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi alleged irregularities in the revision. The Election Commission dismissed these charges, maintaining there was “no ruling side or opposition” in its work.
