Bihar: Nitish chosen leader of JD(U) legislature party; NDA set to form government on November 20

Leaders of JD(U) and NDA held long discussions on Tuesday. Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda held talks with JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha and Lalan Singh, who represent the regional party in the Modi cabinet.For live updates | Nitish to be elected as leader of NDA today, a day before taking oath as Bihar CMWith JD(U)’s increased strength and the entry of two new allies, LJP (RV) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha, the composition of the new government is expected to look different from the outgoing one.This is the first time the BJP and JD(U) have nearly equal strength. Until its numbers fell sharply in 2020, the JD(U) had been the dominant partner ever since the two parties first won a state election together in 2005.The oath-taking ceremony of the new government is scheduled to take place at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on November 20.
