NEW DELHI: BJP MP Ravi Kishan on Tuesday alleged that there was an attempt to attack him during an election rally in Bihar’s Nautan, ahead of the first phase of polling.Speaking to reporters, the Gorakhpur MP accused the opposition of orchestrating the incident. “There was an attempt to attack me in Nautan. People entered our rally… Last night, after Nitin Nabin’s rally, there was also an attempt to attack him. This shows that the opposition and all parties of the Mahagathbandhan have realized they are facing a major defeat, so they tried to attack us and even threatened to kill us,” he claimed. He added that police have detained one person in connection with the incident. “One person, brought from Ludhiana, has been caught and is now in the Gorakhpur police station. Another phone call was received in Delhi, and that person will be arrested soon,” the Gorakhpur MP said.He further alleged that some individuals who entered the rally were carrying RJD’s lantern flags.”Those who entered our meeting today also had the RJD lantern flags in their hands,” Kishan said. The remarks come after BJP leader lodged a police complaint in Gorakhpur over death threats and abusive phone calls containing derogatory remarks about his family and religious beliefs. An FIR was registered at the Ramgarh Taal police station, officials said.Gorakhpur city SP Abhinav Tyagi confirmed the development, saying, “An incident has come to light where an unknown individual threatened MP Ravi Kishan over the phone regarding his speeches during the Bihar election campaign. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and investigation is underway.”According to the FIR, the case has been filed under sections 302, 351(3), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint by the MP’s private secretary, Shivam Dwivedi.Following the threats, police arrested a man identified as Ajay Kumar Yadav from Ludhiana’s Fatehgarh locality on October 30. He was later sent to jail. Investigators said Yadav had threatened to shoot Ravi Kishan if he visited Bihar.“The accused was arrested on Sunday and sent to jail today. He has no links with Bihar. He acted alone and claimed he made the call while under the influence of alcohol,” Additional SP City Abhinav Tyagi said.He also expressed anguish in a post on X, writing: “I was recently subjected to abusive language over the phone, with indecent remarks made even about my mother. I was threatened with death, and offensive words were uttered against Lord Shri Ram. This is not only a direct assault on my personal dignity but also on the core elements of our faith and Indian culture.”

Kishan added, “Such acts are attempts to spread hatred and anarchy in society, and they will be met with a response rooted in democratic strength and ideological resolve. I neither fear these threats nor will I bow to them.”Meanwhile, campaigning is in full swing across Bihar, which goes to polls in the first phase on November 6 and the second on November 11. The counting of votes and declaration of results are slated for November 14.
