AAP leader Anurag Dhanda criticises Haryana government over delayed flood compensation

AAP leader Anurag Dhanda criticises Haryana government over delayed flood compensation

Anurag Dhanda

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday criticised the Haryana government and chief minister Nayab Singh Saini over delays in compensating farmers affected by floods in the state.”If farmers in Punjab can receive Rs 20,000 per acre in compensation within 30 days, why can’t the same be done in Haryana?” said AAP national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda.Dhanda claimed that floods affected 530,000 farmers, 6,395 villages, and around 3.1 million acres of land in Haryana, yet no compensation has been paid so far. In eight districts, crop-loss assessment (girdawari) over 15,834 acres is still incomplete. “Such massive losses have occurred, but the BJP government is sitting silent. This is a direct betrayal of the farmers,” he added.Targeting the BJP, Dhanda said, “The government only talked about Rs 15,000 per acre in compensation, but not a single penny has reached farmers’ accounts. On the other hand, in Punjab, the AAP government fixed compensation at Rs 20,000 per acre and transferred the money into farmers’ bank accounts within 30 days. Punjab delivered results, while Haryana only made promises.”He also criticised Haryana CM Saini, saying, “The Chief Minister seems blind to the farmers’ suffering. Crops are not being sold at MSP, fields are flooded, harvests are ruined — yet the CM is busy saving his chair in Delhi’s corridors of power. Instead of helping farmers, the government has turned its back on them.”
