NASHIK: An eight-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were killed and more than 30 others injured when the school bus they were travelling in fell more than 150 feet down a ghat section in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district Sunday, reports Santosh Sonawane.Inspector Sarang Navalkar of the local Akkalkuwa police station said the injured students are in the age group of 6 to 17 years. “There were 52 students in the bus at the time of the accident,” he said.Students were from an aided ashramshala for tribal students in Jalgaon district and had come home for Diwali vacations. “On Sunday afternoon, the bus arrived to take them back to the ashramshala. The driver, while descending the Amlibari ghat section, lost control at a turning, causing the bus to fall nearly 150 feet into a stream,” Navalkar said. Police were in the process of registering an FIR against the bus driver.
