Why Stephanie Buttermore left social media

Why Stephanie Buttermore left social media: Her final Instagram post spoke of ‘crippling’ anxiety

The untimely loss of fitness icon Stephanie Buttermore at the age of 36 has brought renewed attention to her heartfelt Instagram message from May 2024. In her final post, she shared how distancing herself from social media led to a remarkable uplift in her mental well-being, with anxiety that once felt ‘insurmountable’ now a distant memory.

After fitness influencer and researcher Stephanie Buttermore’s untimely and mysterious demise at the age of 36, attention is spanning back on why she took a break from social media almost two years ago. Even though on social media it looked like Stephanie, who was the fiancée of bodybuilder Jeff Nippard, was thriving, her last Instagram post, she spoke about a history with “crippling” anxiety.

What did Stephanie Buttermore’s final Instagram post say?

On May 20, 2024, Buttermore penned her final Instagram post, accompanying it with a selfie. It was headlined, “What I’ve Learned Taking A Break from Instagram.”⠀⠀⠀“I’ve been pretty MIA on social media all year, but I’ve taken some pretty valuable things away from it. Some things are positive, some also negative. So I’m not here just to bash IG” she wrote. She then listed the positives and negatives of taking a break from her socials. “Positive. My mental health has been the best it’s ever been, but I’ll give you some specifics. I no longer struggle with anxiety. At all. It was almost crippling a few years ago to the point I felt I couldn’t breathe or leave my house,” she wrote. Adding that she’s “living in a judgment free space,” Buttermore wrote, “It’s peaceful here.” Buttermore had some negative aspects of leaving social media too. “Negative. I miss my social media friends and community. So not only did I not post, I also didn’t consume any content on IG. I opened the app maybe once a month and tbh I genuinely missed seeing what my friends were up to,” she wrote. Adding that social media can be “toxic,” but, she also found it to be an “amazing place to connect, learn, get motivated, and make friends.”Her final Instagram post gives the idea that the fitness influencer felt her mental health got better once she left social media.

Stephanie Buttermore and Jeff Nippard

Stephanie Buttermore was the fiancée of bodybuilder Jeff Nippard. Nippard announced her death in a heartbreaking Instagram post on March 7. “It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of 10 years, Stephanie,” Nippard’s post read. “As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff. She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.” Nippard’s post requested privacy. Go to Source
