Who is the voice behind the 2-foot Azellans on ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ has taken the world by storm, and while the main characters are all the hype, the unexpected little Anzellan in the film stole the show. The alien species’ portrayal in the film has caught the attention of many fans online, who appreciated the ode to the 2019 characters. Here is a look at who the voice is that brings the tiny squad to life.

Who voices the Anzellans in ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

The voice behind the adorable two foot creatures is none other than Shirley Henderson! The famed actress has been in the industry for quite a long time and is best remembered for her role in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise as Moaning Myrtle.The Scottish actress has worked for decades in the film industry, and also became popular for her role as Jude in ‘Bridget Jones’ movies.She also voiced the character in the 2019 film as well, where she specifically played the role of Babu Frik, a droidsmith who worked with the Spice Runners of Kijimi, and was alive during the time of the New Republic Era in the Star Wars universe.On the work front, the actress is all set to star in the absurdist comedy film ‘Love Is Not the Answer’, starring opposite the likes of Pamela Anderson, Steve Coogan, Jamie Dornan, Julia Best Warner, and Lucas Hedges.

What are the Anzellans?

First introduced in 2019 in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’, Anzellans are a sentient alien species. They were known for the micro-lenses that were located in their floating eyes, that could see microscopic details in anything.In ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, the Azellans and Grogu team up together in order to save Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin when a bounty hunter captures him. One of the most talked about scenes from the film includes this rescue mission, when the Azellan is heard encouraging the 50 year old baby grogu by saying, “Come on, baby. You can do it.”
