When Salman Khan revealed why he won’t contest elections

When Salman Khan revealed why he won't contest elections: 'I will lose, even for the secretary post of my building'

Salman Khan is one of the most popular celebrities in India, but the actor has a surprisingly self-deprecating reason for staying out of politics. In a candid appearance on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, the superstar admitted that while he feels the urge to contest elections, he is convinced he would not even win the position of secretary of his own building because his own family would not vote for him.

Salman Khan reveals why he doesn’t contest elections

The conversation began when host Kapil Sharma pointed out that political parties regularly approach popular film stars to contest elections on their behalf and asked the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor directly, “Sir, a lot of parties invite big film stars and popular stars to their parties and ask them to contest the elections on their behalf. There is no one more popular than you. Don’t you ever feel like contesting the elections?”Rather than deflect with a diplomatic answer, Salman Khan responded in his trademark candid style. The ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ actor said, “I do feel like contesting elections a lot. But then I look at my building. Okay. I have eight flats in my building. Out of which three flats are ours. And if I, in my building… Forget about the Prime Minister, Minister, MLA, MP, etc. If I fight elections for the secretary of my building, I will lose. I won’t get three votes from my house.”
