Veteran screenwriter and actor Salim Khan is one of the celebs who never minces words. At the same time, he also understands the difference between being direct and being disrespectful. In an old interview currently circulating online, the writer famous for ‘Sholay’ touched upon the downside of frankness.

When Salim Khan opened up about how rudeness is often masked as being frank

In an old interview with Lehren TV, veteran actor Salim Khan stated that people often forget the line between being frank and being rude. The writer commented, “Frank nai ho aap batameez ho” (You aren’t being frank; you’re being rude. )He continued, “Kisi ke muh pe aisi baat bol di jae jisse usse dukh ho, jisse usse takleef ho, jo woh hamesha zindagi bhar yaad rakhe ki inhone mujhse kya kaha hai…woh achi baat hai?” (Is it a good thing to say something to someone’s face that causes them pain or hurt—something they will remember for the rest of their lives, recalling exactly what was said to them? ) He also added at the time that sometimes, it is best to stay quiet about certain matters, and avoid conflict rather than hurting the other person’s feelings.

Who is Salim Khan

Salim Khan is a well-known screenwriter recognised as a revolutionary force in the 1970s. Best known as part of the duo Salim-Javed (with Javed Akhtar), he was known for breaking barriers and is credited with some of the biggest blockbusters of his time. Along with Akhtar, he worked on some of the best-known Bollywood films, including names like ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewaar’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Don’, and ‘Mr. India.’ Beyond his work as a screenplay writer, he also appeared in front of the camera in various projects, including ‘Bachpan’, ‘Teesri Manzil’, ‘Wafadar’, and ‘Mahabharat’. While he has retired from the film industry and leads a quiet and secluded life, Khan is still praised to date for his work and contribution to Indian cinema.
