When Krushna revealed story behind Govinda’s ‘Hatya’ poster

When Krushna Abhishek revealed he featured on poster of Govinda’s 'Hatya' without being part of film

Comedian-actor Krushna Abhishek, who is also Govinda’s nephew, once shared a quirky anecdote about how he ended up on the poster of his uncle’s 1988 hit film Hatya—despite not being part of the movie. The film was a huge success at the box office, but Krushna’s presence on its poster came with an interesting backstory.

The poster story revealed on The Drama Company

During an episode of The Drama Company, where Govinda appeared as a special guest, Krushna revealed what went on behind the scenes. Introducing it as the “first work” of his life, he said, “Govinda ji ki ek superhit film thi ‘Hatya’, jo humare home production ki pehli film thi” (Govinda had a superhit film Hatya, which was the first project of our home production). He went on to explain that the film featured a child character named Yaya. However, Krushna clarified that he wasn’t the kid in the movie. “Woh bachcha main nahi tha. Actually woh superstar tha South ka, uski dates nahi mil rahi thi photo session ke liye, toh inhone kaha photo session karwalo Krushna se” (That child wasn’t me. He was a superstar from the South, and since his dates weren’t available for the photoshoot, they asked me to step in instead).

Krushna’s Instagram throwback

In 2020, Krushna revisited the memory with an Instagram post. Sharing the poster, he wrote, “Got this pic today. Guys, do u know the baby holding the leg in this pic is me… I was not in the film but the child actor didn’t have the dates so the photo shoot was done by me… my first work.”

Who was the child actor in ‘Hatya’?

The child role in ‘Hatya’ was actually played by actor Sujitha, who portrayed a speech- and hearing-impaired boy in the film.
