When both Neetu and Rishi fainted at their wedding

When both Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor fainted at their wedding: 'I was drunk when I was taking pheras...'

Neetu Kapoor reminisced about her grand 1980 wedding to Rishi Kapoor, revealing amusing details like the massive crowd of five thousand people at RK House. Amidst the chaos of pickpocketers and unwanted gifts, both Neetu and Rishi fainted during the ceremony due to the overwhelming atmosphere. To calm their nerves, they resorted to brandy, leading to a slightly tipsy pheras.

Neetu Kapoor once opened up about her wedding to the late Rishi Kapoor, sharing some unexpected and amusing moments from their big day. The actress gave fans a rare, candid glimpse into the memorable events of their 1980 wedding at RK House in Chembur.

Grand celebration compared to others

Neetu shared the wedding story during a recent interview on Swiggy’s YouTube channel with her JugJugg Jeeyo co-stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani. When Varun asked if she had attended Anil Kapoor’s wedding to Sunita Kapoor, Anil joked that he could barely find himself at his own wedding because there were so few guests. Neetu noted the stark contrast, recalling that while Anil’s wedding had only five attendees, her wedding to Rishi Kapoor was attended by around five thousand people. Anil also mentioned that he had been present at Neetu and Rishi’s grand wedding.

Fainting during the ceremony

The veteran actress recalled some chaotic moments from her wedding, saying that pickpocketers had crashed the event and even gifted her rocks and slippers, disguised as normal wedding presents. She added that the massive crowd made both her and Rishi Kapoor uncomfortable—so much so that they both fainted during the ceremony. Neetu explained that to calm their nerves, they were drinking brandy, and she ended up taking her pheras a little tipsy. Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor got married on January 22, 1980. The couple gave birth to two children – Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor. One of the most beloved couples of their time, Neetu and Rishi ruled the silver screen in the ’70s and ’80s with hits like Amar Akbar Anthony, Khel Khel Mein, Rafoo Chakkar, Kabhi Kabhie, Besharam, and many more.Rishi Kapoor passed away at the age of 67 on April 30, 2020, after a two-year battle with cancer.
