‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Teaser: Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes and Elle Fanning shine in first glimpse of November 2026 release

The first teaser for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise’ on the Reaping’ has been released online and fans already can’t quite wait until the film’s November 2026 release. The makers on Thursday dropped the first clip, exactly a year before the film hits the big screens. The film is based on Suzanne Collins’ latest novel, released earlier this year, and expands the blockbuster franchise, with a return to Panem’s brutal early games.

Official synopsis

‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ will revisit the world of Panem, 24 years before the events of ‘The Hunger Games’, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the deadly Quarter Quell that doubles the number of tributes from each district. As the Games unfold, the players discover that the Capitol has stacked the odds against them in more insidious ways than ever before.

Cast details

Joseph Zada takes on the role of Haymitch, originally played by Woody Harrelson in the original ‘Hunger Games’ films. The prequel also reintroduces several iconic characters in younger form including Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow. He now becomes the third actor to portray the character, following Donald Sutherland and Tom Blyth’s versions. The star-studded cast features Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. The ensemble also includes Mckenna Grace, Ben Wang, Glenn Close, Billy Porter, Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor, Iris Apatow, Whitney Peak, and Kara Tointon.Director Francis Lawrence returns for his fifth entry in the franchise, while Billy Ray, who co-wrote the 2012 original, pens the screenplay for the new chapter.
