'Vilayath Buddha' box office collections day 4: Prithviraj Sukumaran's film witnesses sharp drop; Mints just Rs 29 lakhs

Collections have steadily dropped since Friday, with Day 4 earnings estimated at a mere Rs 29 lakhs. Low occupancy on Monday further highlights the film’s struggle. Its future success now hinges on positive word-of-mouth and a strong upcoming weekend.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest release, ‘Vilayath Buddha’, is seeing a concerning dip at the box office after a promising start on Friday.Despite the star power and pre-release buzz, the film’s performance has been slowing down steadily as weekday shows began. As reported by the Sacnilk website, after collecting Rs 1.7 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 1 crore on Saturday, the film saw a further drop to Rs 75 lakhs on Sunday. Now, early estimates suggest that the Day 4 earnings stand at just Rs 29 lakhs India net. Now the overall collections stand at Rs 3.74 crore within four days.

Low occupancy numbers

The sharp decline reflects in the overall Malayalam occupancy. It stood at only 9.23% on Monday, November 24, 2025.Morning shows recorded 7.84% occupancy. The afternoon and evening shows were at 9.74% and 7.59% respectively. Night shows saw a slight improvement at 11.73%.

What lies ahead for the film?

The film is directed by Jayan Nambiar. ‘Vilayath Buddha’ features Shammi Thilakan, Priyamvada Krishnan, Rajashree, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Anu Mohan alongside Prithviraj in the lead. The film revolves around the intense storyline adapted from the renowned novel of the same name. The expectations were high for the Prithviraj starrer.
