'Jana Nayagan' leak: Editor cleared of involvement; South Indian Film Editors Association speaks out; Six arrested so far

The Tamil film industry is grappling with the ‘Jana Nayagan’ leak. The South Indian Film Editors Association has vehemently denied any involvement, with its president urging director Ameer to retract accusations. Police have arrested six individuals as investigations into the piracy incident intensify, while the CBFC also clarified its non-involvement.

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ leak has sparked serious discussions about piracy and accountability in the Tamil film industry. Latest updates say that the South Indian Film Editors Association has strongly denied any involvement of editors in the leak of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’.As reported by Hindustan Times, association president Gopi and FEFSI president RK Selvamani addressed the media in Chennai, clarifying that an internal inquiry has cleared the editors.They also urged director Ameer to withdraw his accusations against the editing team and crew.

Association denies involvement

Gopi firmly rejected claims linking editors to the leak. He stated that editors will never do this kind of work and confirmed that an internal inquiry had already been conducted.He added that the main accused behind the leak will be arrested soon, as six people have already been taken into custody.

Defense of editor Pradeep

Gopi specifically defended Jana Nayagan editor Pradeep, saying he should not be accused without proof. He pointed out that the investigation is still ongoing and people should not point fingers based on the leaked edit copy. The association emphasised that the leak appears to be a larger systemic issue.

Call to director Ameer

RK Selvamani asked director Ameer to retract his statements against the editors and crew. He warned that such accusations can harm reputations without basis.Selvamani also noted that piracy is not new and called for better systems to prevent future leaks as digitalisation grows.

Police investigation update on ‘Jana Nayagan’ leak

The Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu Police is actively probing the case. They have initiated blocking requests for over 300 infringing links and are tracking social media and file-sharing platforms, as reported by The Hindu.Six persons have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. The case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IT Act, Copyright Act, and Cinematograph Act reportedly.

CBFC clarifies position

The Central Board of Film Certification denied any role in the leak. In a statement, the board said reports alleging the leak originated from them are baseless.They clarified that access to the content is password-protected and the KDM remains with the producer.Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ is touted to be a complete action entertainer.
