Vicky Kaushal to dedicate 18 months to Amar Kaushik’s ‘Mahavatar’ after ‘Love & War’, shoot to begin from January 2027

Vicky Kaushal will begin prep for Amar Kaushik’s Mahavatar in June 2026 after wrapping Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film shoots from January to December 2027. Vicky Kaushal is set to dive into his next ambitious project, mythological epic ‘Mahavatar’, directed by Amar Kaushik, after wrapping up Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’. The actor will begin an intensive prep schedule from June 2026, immediately after completing his commitments on the Bhansali directorial, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

According to Pinkvilla, Vicky has committed to a rigorous six-month training program that includes physical transformation, bulking up, and a series of acting workshops tailored specifically for the film. ‘Mahavatar’ is scheduled to begin filming in January 2027, with a year-long shoot planned through December 2027. Reportedly, Vicky is treating ‘Mahavatar’ as a once-in-a-lifetime project. He wants to be fully invested, so he has consciously decided not to take on any other assignments during the shoot.

‘Love & War’ is set to commence a key 50-day shooting schedule from May 2026. Bhansali plans to wrap up the film by late June, aiming for a theatrical release on January 21, 2027.

With immense love and gratitude, we welcome our baby boy. 7th November, 2025. Katrina & Vicky.” Keeping the caption short and heartfelt, they added, “Blessed.
