Varun recalls David Dhawan’s ICU scare during Border 2 shoot

Varun Dhawan recalls David Dhawan’s ICU scare during Border 2 shoot; says ‘trolling kuch bhi nahi lagti’ now

Varun Dhawan has opened up about a deeply personal moment during the shoot of Border 2, revealing that his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, was admitted to the ICU while he was filming the war drama. The actor said the incident changed his perspective on online trolling and public scrutiny.Speaking at the film’s success event, Varun shared that the health scare occurred when the team was shooting the Battle of Basantar sequence in Babina. “Jab film ki shooting chal rahi thi, specially jab hum Babina mein Battle of Basantar shoot kar rahe the, us waqt mere father ko health scare hua aur woh ICU mein admit ho gaye. Obviously, Anurag and Binoy knew about it. Main turant flight leke ghar gaya,” he said.

Varun reveals David Dhawan urged him to return to set amid health emergency

Varun recalled meeting his father in the ICU, only to be questioned about leaving work midway. “ICU mein jaake maine dad ko dekha. Unhone mujhse kaha, ‘How can you come back? Tum wapas kaise aa gaye? Tumhari shooting chal rahi hai.’”Despite wanting to stay, Varun said his father insisted he return to the set. “Maine kaha, ‘Kya bol rahe ho papa? Main yahin rahunga.’ Lekin unhone bola, ‘Hum log picture banate hain, logon ko entertain karte hain. Producer ka bahut paisa laga hota hai. Tum kal subah wapas jao aur apna call time meet karo.’”

Varun Dhawan Responds to Border 2 Smile Memes With Wit, Turning Online Trolling on Its Head

The actor admitted that the episode put things into perspective, especially at a time when he was being trolled online over Border 2 promotions and performances. Addressing the scrutiny, he said, “Ye, pehle toh trolling sabki hoti hai. Aajkal it’s become a thing, it’s become fashion. Some people can take it in their stride, some people can’t. Toh luckily, I could take it.” He added, “Main sirf itna kehna chahta hoon ki jab zindagi mein aise serious cheezein hoti hain, toh trolling kuch bhi nahi lagti. It does not make a difference.”
